ADVANCED WHEEL THROWING WITH EVAN CORY / MONDAY EVENINGS 6-9 PM
This class is great way to expand on your wheel throwing and creative technique. Your instructor Evan will teach you how to throw on the wheel, how to trim your work with various tools, and how to apply glaze. The class will explore the ceramics process from start to finish. The class includes a 25 lb bag of clay, free firing, and access to glaze materials. An additional 3 hours of open studio time per week is also included. This class meets on Monday evenings from 6 PM - 9 PM for 6 weeks - from March 31st until May 5th.
Evan Cory's journey as a ceramic artist began at a pottery summer camp in 1st grade which ignited a lifelong passion for clay. Over the years of his practice, he has refined his craft through his formal education in ceramics at the University of Wisconsin, his curation of a solo ceramics exhibition, and by starting his own studio and pottery business. Evan’s throwing style is defined by its simplicity and elegance; his focus is functional ware meant for everyday use. While wheel throwing has been his primary expertise, Evan finds equal joy in sculpting and handbuilding as well. By day, Evan works in biological research. While this may seem distantly related to ceramics, the chemistry and experimentation inherent in pottery serve as a bridge that connects his artistic interests with his scientific pursuits.
